Value Of Richness

Riches are not from and abundance of worldly goods but from a content mind.
A man is poor not from materialistic possessions;he is really poor if he is devoid of knowledge, righteousness, charity and honesty.

Self Improvement

Contentment brings peace and satisfaction to one's soul leading one to believe in the grace of God.A content man accepts with all humility what he has been given by God.He leads a life of happiness and peace and finds the treasure of contentment.Such contented minds deserve to be called rich even though they may in a literal sense be poor having meagre worldly possessions.

Bench Mark

From 'Peon' To Vice-Chancellor

Life in a slum taught Dr.Narendra Jadhav to be resilient but it was the all -consuming emphasis placed on education by his semi-literate father that set him on the road to success.

Dr Narendra Jadhav ended up as chief economist of thr Reserve Bank of India and then Vice-Chancellor Pune University,a chair he currently holds.Jadhav's unique success story shows how education can unchain and transform when seemingly nothing else can.

His father told him"Don'tlisten to what others tell you to become. They may tell you to become a doctor, barrister or engineer. But follow your inner voice and do what you want.I don't care what you choose for yourself,as long as you are at the top, whereever you are.Don't ever be medicore.
Dr Jadhav headed for the University of Indiana ,where he received a Ph.D in Public Finance.Seven days after he got his Ph.D Jadhav was back in India. He says "You can't use your background as an excuse for incompetence and there's no substitute for hard work.
His father said a Ph.D was like a driving license. You start driving"

Meditation helps in dealing with stress

Scientists have achieved a breakthrough in understanding how relaxation techniques like yoga, meditation, and prayer improve health.

Research say that such relaxation techniques work by changing patterns of gene activity that affect how the body responds to stress.

It is not all in our head. When we evoke the relaxation response, the very genes that turned on or off by stress are turned the other way.The mind can actively turn on and turn off genes.

They compared gene-expression patterns in 19 long term practitioners,19 healthy controls and 20 newcomers who underwent eight weeks of relaxation response training. The researchers observed that over2,200 genes were activated differently in the long-time practitioners relative to the controls, and 1,561 genes in the short-timers compared to the long-time practitioners.

The researchers saw changes in cellular metabolism, response to oxidative stress and other processes in both short and long term practitioners
